Lanzarote Resorts - Puerto Del Carmen

Puerto Del Carmen is the most popular tourist destination in Lanzarote. It offers three different areas, these are the Matagorda, Old Town and New Town which is called Avenida de Las Playas (or better known as the strip).

These 3 areas are very much different to each other but all offer a good amount of bars and restaurants and of course shopping.

Matagorda is closest to the Airport, like the other 2 areas Matagorda has a large amount of bars and restaurants to choose from including it's own centre with a very good selection of restaurants. The beaches in Matagorda are golden and very long but it can get very windy. Matagorda is also the flattest part of Puerto Del Carmen.

The Old Town has managed to keep the look and feel of a old Spanish village. The area is filled with many different bars and Restaurants located over the Old Town, many of which are hidden away and are difficult to find.

The 'Strip' (New Town) as it's more commonly known is around 6km long with an almost unlimited supply of bars, shops and restaurants for you to choose from. Puerto Del Carmen also offers an impressive shopping centre called the Biosfera which offers 4 floors of shops and bars (with a kids play area to keep them happy).

Puerto Del Carmen is the most popular tourist destination in Lanzarote, situated to the south of Lanzarote. It is attractive for many people because of the long sandy beaches, number of activities available and excellent selection of bars and restaurants. Puerto Del Carmen has a lot to offer all year round due to the warm climate of Lanzarote. Puerto Del Carmen started life as a fishing village and its picturesque harbour at the southern end of the resort is still very much in action, a lovely place to unwind over a drink and watch the fishing boats come and go. If you wander into the square nearby you will see the locals playing boules.

Puerto Del Carmen is the ideal holiday resort for the sun worshipper, with the beautiful Playa Grande beach, as for the night owl who loves dancing and eating and drinking, or the culture vulture. Suitable for couples and families Puerto Del Carmen has something to offer everyone with a wide selection of shops and shopping centres, entertainment halls, restaurants and bars.

I have been to this place once, it was enough.... For some one looking for a I have to do NOTHING AT ALL holiday it would be fine, for some one looking for a more stimulating location, forget it. After 2 days I was riding busses for the sake of something to do, all the places look the same and for anyone with an attention span of anything more than a goldfish it is hell. O.a.ps and chavs, its all yours..

lanzarote is great for families, couples and young groups, it has something for everyone. We will be going back in July again. PDC has great nightlife and we are looking forward to a few drinks in paradise!!

I have been going to Lanzarote for the last 9 years. Very simple reason for this is the climate / friendly people / best food / nightlife /beaches . One other thing that amazes me is whenever I go there I always meet the same people each year who will tell you the same as I have. I will be there in September this year as usual. Cant wait.

puerto del carmen is stunning as its clean and its fab beach along side the strip of many bars, restaurants and souvenir shops.we are a young couple having travelled to many places and the new town appealed to us as we will be returning for the fifth time we love it

I will be returning to Lanzarote on the first week of June after a break of six years and i can't wait to get back and see all the placese i seen all thoes years ago, the last time i was there the commerical shopping centre was only being built,so i am looking forward to seeing all the new things.

We keep coming back to Puerto del Carmen. There is something here for everyone. If you want hectic night life there is the "strip" with its array of clubs and bars. If you want a quieter time then the "old town" has a character all of its own and you can recapture the times when you could go into a bar, have a quiet drink and hear what your friend is saying to you. The choice of food available across the resort is incredible and the quality in most establishments is very high, as is the standard of service. There are clean beaches for topping up your tan and lots of little shops for souvenirs.
