Lanzarote Resorts - Puerto Del Carmen

Puerto Del Carmen is the most popular tourist destination in Lanzarote. It offers three different areas, these are the Matagorda, Old Town and New Town which is called Avenida de Las Playas (or better known as the strip).

These 3 areas are very much different to each other but all offer a good amount of bars and restaurants and of course shopping.

Matagorda is closest to the Airport, like the other 2 areas Matagorda has a large amount of bars and restaurants to choose from including it's own centre with a very good selection of restaurants. The beaches in Matagorda are golden and very long but it can get very windy. Matagorda is also the flattest part of Puerto Del Carmen.

The Old Town has managed to keep the look and feel of a old Spanish village. The area is filled with many different bars and Restaurants located over the Old Town, many of which are hidden away and are difficult to find.

The 'Strip' (New Town) as it's more commonly known is around 6km long with an almost unlimited supply of bars, shops and restaurants for you to choose from. Puerto Del Carmen also offers an impressive shopping centre called the Biosfera which offers 4 floors of shops and bars (with a kids play area to keep them happy).

Puerto Del Carmen is the most popular tourist destination in Lanzarote, situated to the south of Lanzarote. It is attractive for many people because of the long sandy beaches, number of activities available and excellent selection of bars and restaurants. Puerto Del Carmen has a lot to offer all year round due to the warm climate of Lanzarote. Puerto Del Carmen started life as a fishing village and its picturesque harbour at the southern end of the resort is still very much in action, a lovely place to unwind over a drink and watch the fishing boats come and go. If you wander into the square nearby you will see the locals playing boules.

Puerto Del Carmen is the ideal holiday resort for the sun worshipper, with the beautiful Playa Grande beach, as for the night owl who loves dancing and eating and drinking, or the culture vulture. Suitable for couples and families Puerto Del Carmen has something to offer everyone with a wide selection of shops and shopping centres, entertainment halls, restaurants and bars.

Having just read numeous reviews why dont all the other restuarants close as Mamma's is obvious where everybody eats. Surprised they havent retired as multi millionaires by now.Came on his site for an overview of Pdc. All I got was crap about an Italian cafe. I can only when we visit there are enough police to control the crowds outside this restaurent. I suppose I should be grateful as all the other places will be empty so no waiting for a table and cheap as they must be deperate to see a diner. What a load of B******s.

Just got back from one of the nicest holidays ever. We went self-catering and very pleased we did. We had a lovely meal at The Galeon. 3 top class chinese meals and an Indian to die for. Weather was cloudy in the morning then sunny right through till 5pm. We are looking to go back next April, but wish we could return tomorrow.

Have been visiting the island for over 10 years and had always visited italian restaurants, Capri;trattoria Perona, Luigis, Marittoni. This time expecting the same good food we went for dinner to That's Amore a new italian(?)restaurant and was totally disappointed. The restaurant was very dirty. I had spagetti with mushroom, and shirmp . My husband pizza were similarly poor - the meat was of really poor quality and tasted awful. Will definitely not be visiting again!! In ten Years this is The worst restaurant in PDC Dont go there

My sister and I just spent a week in pdc at the cinco plaza apartments which were immaculate and would recommend them. The weather was rubbish so spent most of our time in our flat as found the tourists quite ignorant until the day before we left met a nice couple who we spent our last day with and to be honest was the best day of the week? There was no entertainment on the strip despite the amount of bars that were there, the food was ok in most pla ces especially the indian resturant called india aroma highly recommend this. 1 place to drink I would avoid is called ruta 66 charged 10 euros for the 2 drinks we bought until midnight then charged 12 euros so avoid this place or at least until 11.45 and move on as its a rip off no sign letting you know? Found a nice bar called the bluebells! Great prodie pub cheap and so friendly. Scenery was lovely but don't think I will be back think its for the older generation.

Hi, I have booked to go to PDC with my family next month. After scouring the reviews for PDC I am none the wiser about the resort as a whole, but know which restaurants are good. In fact I thought I was on a restaurant review site at first. When you look at the playa blanca reviews people talk about the resort as a whole. Is it because the only good thing about PDC is a handful of great eateries. Not good news for someone on a budget who wants to spend most evenings eating in!
