When visiting Lanzarote people tend to forget that there is a lot more to our little Islands than the sun, sea, sand and of course the many bars and restaurants.

So what else can Lanzarote off the tourist?

The biggest and no doubt most important attraction in Lanzarote has to be the Timanfaya National Park.  The national park is due to the volcanic eruptions between 1730 and 1736.  During this time the eruptions with covered most of Lanzarote has created the landscape which you will see when flying over the island.

A trip to the National Park is normally best done by an organized trip, the main reason is there is a lot of history behind the eruptions so having a guide explaining all this to you is always helpful.

You can of course drive up there by yourself and you do get a trip around the national park (it is protected land so you cannot walk / drive around on your own).

Entrance is around 8 Euros, within the area you will find a restaurant, toliets and of course what attraction would be without the gift shop.
