If you have ever looked in to trying to get a cheap flight to Lanzarote, you may of some point tried Easy Jet but, if you have tired, you will know that they don’t fly here.  Why you ask?

We (LanzaroteTourist.com) were thinking along the same lines, Why don’t Easy Jet fly to Lanzarote, so we decidied to ask them and this is the responce we got back:-

” Hi, easyJet aircraft can fly a maximum of 4 hours, this places the canary islands at the limit of our range, so the costs of operating are high, and as the market has such a huge charter airline capacity at the moment, there doesn’t seem much requirements for a low-cost airline. “

Now Lanzarote being the furthest north in the Canary Islands it can take less than 4 hours to fly to Lanzarote ( 4 hours even from Newcastle on a good day).

We did ask if there was any future plans for Easy Jet to fly to Lanzarote but I guess that question was missed out by mistake…

Flights to Lanzarote have always been on the expensive side, until now.  The low cost airline Jet2.com are starting to fly in to Lanzarote from Leeds Bradford airport making this the first ‘cheap’ flights available to Lanzarote.

The Canary Islands have always been one of the most popular destinations for tourists, mainly as the flight will last around 4 hours and you are normally going to get very good weather.  Although most of the other Canary Islands already have the cheap flights Lanzarote has always suffered with an abundance of these making it difficult for everyone to visit this Island.

Philip Meeson, boss of Jet2.com, said: “We’re really excited to further enhance the portfolio of Canary Island destinations we have on offer. Lanzarote is a perfect destination for guaranteed winter sunshine.

We know that Lanzarote will be a hit with customers who will appreciate our low fares. This means travellers can take long weekend breaks, winter holidays in search of the sun or visit their overseas home to collect the post more often!”

Hopefully this turn of events will prompt some of the other low cost airlines and the current ones to lower there prices and open the Island to many different visitors to Lanzarote.
