Car Hire Lanzarote

Lanzarote, although small has many different tourist destinations. Many of these are 'off the beaten track' and will only be accessible if you hire a car.

In Puerto del Carmen, Costa Teguise and Playa Blanca you will find many car hire companies, each offering you a good selection of cars to choose from and at a very good price.

Before you hire a car in Lanzarote you should read the information below:

When Driving in Lanzarote, remember that you drive on the Right-hand side of the road.

Petrol Stations in Lanzarote will not accept credit cards, be sure to carry some money.

Always Carry your driver's Licence, Passport and Rental Agreement.
If you are stopped by the police and you are missing just 1 document you can face a fine.

Always wear your Seat belts in the car (front and rear)
Again if stopped by the police you can face a "on the spot" fine

You have to be at least 21 years old to hire a Car.

  Buy a map.

Be careful of one way streets, road signs are not always clear and they are a lot of one way streets in the tourist resorts.

Take some bottled water with you.

Always watch out for cars pulling out at junctions and parking areas.

One last note for tourists driving in Lanzarote, a very large complaint from locals on the Island is tourists in hire cars stopping on roundabouts when they get lost. Please pull in to a safe place if you are unsure.
