Walk along the prom in Costa Teguise
Let me take you for a walk along the prom in Costa Teguise.
We'll start our journey at the Southern end of Costa Teguise, and work North to Las Charcos what better place to start than by the Kings Holiday Palace (Palace Real la Marela ).
Make sure you have plenty of water with you, it is about 2 miles long and will take about 1hour or so,if you take your time and stop to admire the scenery. This part of the walk is rather rugged, and you can see for miles across the beautiful blue sea.
On your left you pass the Tuscan, Las Coronas apartments and The Teguise Playa hotel. The first place you reach is Playa Bastion, with its complex and beach, the beach is stony, and there are small bays to shelter away from the sun.
Further along the path way, you reach the Toledo restaurant, stop for coffee or a snack, or even treat yourself to an ice cream. The path bares right and there is a slow descend down to Playa Jabillo, a beautiful beach, with shallow clear water, excellent for snorkeling and safe for small children.
Do stop on the way and look across to Arrecife, you may just be able to catch a glims the large tourist ships that dock there. The next part of the walk is a little baron and windy. As you turn the bend you will see the largest of the beaches Playa Cucharas, before you reach it, take a walk along the jetty and view the Manrique sculptures at the end.
You are coming into the main tourist area now, plenty of watering holes, cafes and shops. Take the road right along the top of the beach, with it's lovely floral display. Your next point of call is the Cucharas shopping centre, but before that you will pass the dive centre. Stop if you like at one of the pubs or restaurants.
The main path fizzles out here, but we will take the sandy path that goes round the Sol Melia hotel, the hotel was designed my Cesar Manrique and well worth a visit if you have the time. This path takes you to a very quiet little used beach called Playa Charcos. Follow the path all the way to Sands Beach Club for lunch, this sadly were our journey ends.
