Wine Trail Two
From the Monumento al Campesino follow the road to San Bartolomé, in the village, just behind the town hall, you will find Bodegas Barreto.
Bodegas Barreto - The Barreto family have been dedicated to vine culture in Lanzarote for over a century. It is among the most important wineries in Lanzarote and its wine, labeled with the brand "El Campesino", have won many important tasting awards including Alhóndigas 1996, 1997 and 1998.
Open from 10.00 until 18.30 daily.
From the roundabout at the monument take the road sign posted Masdache, La Geria, Uga and Yazia in order to find Bodegas El Grifo.
Bodegas El Grifo - The oldest Bodega in the Canary islands and one of the oldest in Spain was founded in 1775 and has won many prestigious awards bringing its wine national and international acclaim. There is also a museum here devoted to the world of wine.
Open from 10.30 until 18.00 daily.
When leaving Bodegas El Grifo turn right, approx 2 mins after passing Masdache you will be in the heart of La Geria. Stop after 19km on the right at Bodega La Geria.
Bodega La Geria - Built at the end of the 19th century Bodega La Geria is one of the oldest wineries on the island. The winery has received several awards in regional wine-tasting contests.
Open on request, wine on sale 9.00 until 18.00 every day.
From Bodega La Geria take the road sign posted Macher. At Macher look for the street Camino del Volcán where you will find Bodega Timanfaya.
Bodega Timanfaya - Located in the interior of a lava mantle, this winery was for years the birthplace of great home wines for exclusive families. Nowadays the winery produces 5,000 litres although it has a capacity of 50,000 litres.
Open Saturdays from 9.00 until 14.00.
Castillo de Guanapay is located in La Asomada in the municipality of Tias.
Bodega Castillo de Guanapay - The wines here are produced with modern techniques under strict temperature controls to obtain the best quality of Lanzarote's grape.
Rubicón wine cellar is located on the road to La Geria, between Teguise and Yaiza.
Bodega Rubicón - Founded in the early 15th century by Jean de Bethencourt, el Rubicón was the first European settlement in Lanzarote. Vines were introduced to the area just before the eruptions of the 18th century. After the eruptions the area started growing vines through the process of enarendo natural (dry field), this technique is still being used.
