Jameos del Agua

Jameos del Agua (Hameos - J's are pronounced as a H) is located in the north of Lanzarote (next to the Green Caves), the lava bubbles that are Jameos Del Agua, were formed by a volcano called Monte de la Corona which erupted some 3.000 years ago.

Within the lava formations a dance floor and two bars have been built, this allows Jameos Del Agua to become a night club/bar at night which is one of the most unusual venues you will find in Lanzarote.

Further into the lava you will find the concert room, this is a cave has natural acoustics and will seat around 600 spectators.

Within the main area you will also come across a very rare Blind Albino crab which are normally only found far below the surface. (These crabs are very small)

How anyone cannot see the beauty of this place leaves me completely baffled. The auditorium alone is outstanding. The pool like the rest of Jameos is a work of art. As Rita Hayworth said the "eighth wonder of the world". If you have the opportunity go there at night, the restaurant is very good and the place looks magical. Be sure to make a reservation though as it is only open on certain nights

I felt compelled to write about this attraction, having read the previous reviewer's comments. This is my favourite spot on the island and is one of the most beautiful, if not the most beautiful spot I have been to. It was disapointing to read that the previous person dimissed the incredible cave made by the lava, but to say that the pool was not in use appeared to miss the point. The pool was designed for the King of Spain and I have been told that it is an arrestible offence for anyone else to swim here. The pool is very well maintained, as is the entire facility . The attraction is enjoyed by people of all ages. Unfortunately the maximum points I am allowed to award is 5.

The entrance is 8euros p/p, and entitles you to see the cave, very nice, and nothing much else. The pool is not in use, the museum is full of dull and aging pictures of volcano information. I asked for a : hoja de reclamacion : in protest. Not worth the entrance fee or time.
