March 2010 - We visited both the lava tunnel and the visitor centre (built in another part of the Lava tunnel) and found it fascinating - a different experience to the damp limestone caves in UK. Incredible to think that the tunnel we were following (about one kilometer of the 7km length from volcano to sea) had been formed by molten rock flowing at temperatures we can't imagine. The visitor centre is fascinating too, with cafes and lots of information on the volcanoes as well as a large concert auditorium in a cavernous section of the tunnel. Our visit lasted 4 1/2 hours (without a concert!) Yes - go there - something to do on a dull day since you'll be underground most of the time. Also the 'official' cactus museum at Guatiza is fascinating, I had no idea there were such varieties of size and flowers in cacti. - Really worth a visit - nice cafe too

PS - the pictures of the caves shown on this site are a disgrace - the real thing is much more photogenic.

Great place to visit, the caves are on an awe inspiring scale. Tour is good too and our guide was very knowledgeable and entertaining. We took our 2 year old which was a little challenging but do able. Tour only took about half an hour and there is nothing else to do once that is over but it is definitely worth going if you have the time.

This is a great place to visit, there is a lot of history to the island and people do miss out on this. The caves are something special but be sure to put on some good shoes!!

The Green Caves is a great place to visit when the weather is a little dull, wondering through the caves and of course seeing the secret of Lanzarote for your own eyes!!
